AWS Transform – continuous modernization preview automates tech debt detection and remediation
AWS Transform – continuous modernization (preview) automatically scans code repositories to detect, prioritize, and remediate technical debt at scale, enabling continuous autonomous modernization and integration with security workflows.
AWS has introduced AWS Transform – continuous modernization (preview), a new feature of AWS Transform that enables continuous, autonomous analysis and remediation of technical debt at scale. AWS Transform helps enterprises migrate from data centers, modernize mainframe and Windows applications, and maintain software by upgrading Java versions, replacing deprecated frameworks, and updating AWS Lambda runtimes before end of life. This new capability scans code repositories automatically against configurable baselines, generating prioritized findings within hours. It includes out-of-the-box policies for detecting end-of-life dependencies and deprecated frameworks, with the option to add custom policies specific to organizational standards. Continuous analysis provides real-time visibility into the technical debt status of repositories, eliminating manual status tracking. Autonomous remediation can be configured to generate pull requests automatically for issues such as Java upgrades, SDK migrations, and library updates, allowing teams to review and merge fixes or apply their own solutions. Integration with AWS Security Agent enables detection and remediation of security vulnerabilities within the same workflow. Users can start by connecting source control systems, running analyses, reviewing findings, and launching remediation campaigns that track progress in real time. The tool supports continuous modernization for routine maintenance and campaign mode for larger modernization projects. AWS Transform – continuous modernization (preview) is available now via the AWS Transform web application, Kiro Power, MCP, and skills for integration with coding agents. For more information, see the AWS Transform documentation.
